ABBY GUIHER

The DuBois Dream organization is excited to highlight Abby Guiher, a senior guard on the DuBois Area High School girls’ basketball team. Abby was a part of the DuBois Dream AAU program for two years, and that has helped her develop her basketball career.

After playing and learning in the Dream’s AAU program, Guiher has taken on a larger role with the Beavers and has committed to play at Houghton College after graduation. Here is our interview with Abby about how the DuBois Dream Basketball Club’s youth basketball program helped her develop and shaped her basketball career.

How has your participation in the program helped your development in basketball?

It has allowed me to grow as a point guard. Not only have I been able to improve my ball handling and shooting, but I have furthered my confidence to lead my team on the floor.

What was your favorite part about participating in the program?

This program gave me the opportunity to play with some up-and-coming DuBois players currently in their sophomore year of high school. It has been a blast to play alongside them because they have become some of my closest friends.

What do you think an opportunity like the Dream’s AAU program can do for other young players?

AAU tournaments host so many different teams that really challenge you to step-up your own game. I find that I am the most improved after the AAU season because of the players I play against in the season. Also, it gives players a platform for college coaches to scout them. You never know who is watching and how they might view your game.

Getting to play basketball with some local girls has been amazing. Before the DuBois Dream, I had to travel an hour and a half one-way to find a team to play for. Now, I can play AAU basketball with my own high school teammates which I believe has reflected in this high school season.
