When the stars align it can feel like a dream. After only a week, the stars perfectly aligned and the Dream have now found their next Head Coach in Tanner Gooden.

“Congratulations to Tanner Gooden for being named Head Coach of the DuBois Dream for the 2022 PBL Season,” newly appointed General Manager, Rick Homer, stated. “If there’s such a thing as a ‘perfect fit’ for coaching the Dream this Season, Tanner is that. He provides the skill, knowledge and experience to lead the DuBois Dream on and off the court as we move into Season #6.”

Gooden most definitely brings a wealth of skill, knowledge and experience to the Dream as he has coached at the high school and collegiate level since graduating and finishing his playing career at Penn State DuBois. A local DuBois Area High School Graduate, Gooden began his coaching career at his alma mater and has had coaching stops at Penn State DuBois, Bradford Area High School as well as the DuBois Dream Basketball Club AAU & Youth Basketball teams each of the past 4 seasons. Gooden hopes to take his experience and familiarity with the Dream to a whole new level this upcoming season.

“I’m thrilled and excited to be coming back to DuBois and joining the Dream family,” Gooden said. “I can’t express how excited I am for this opportunity and the journey that lies ahead. I want to thank Albert Varacallo, Rick Homer and the entire Dream organization for their trust. Growing the game of basketball in our small community has always been a dream of mine and I am blessed to continue this mission with the already successful DuBois Dream Organization at all levels including the boys and girls AAU programs.”

In addition to his duties as Head Coach of the DuBois Dream Premier Basketball League Team, Gooden will be coaching and overseeing the AAU & Youth Basketball Program as well. “Our goal this year was to find a Coach who could not only lead our PBL Team, but also take our AAU & Youth Basketball Program to the next level,” Owner/Founder Albert Varacallo stated. “I always thought Tanner would be a great person to Coach the Dream, because of his ability to connect and relate to the PBL guys as well as the youth in our program. I wasn’t sure if we would ever be able to get him back after he moved to Bradford, but it was perfect timing this year with him coming back to DuBois and his schedule opening up. We could not have planned this any better and I know Tanner is going to an amazing job for us.”

Gooden’s first order of business as Head Coach will be organizing and leading private workouts for the returning PBL players, as well as scouting and filling in the rest of the roster with new faces ahead of the 2022 PBL Season. General Manager Rick Homer has full confidence that Gooden is up to the challenge. “With four quality veterans already signed, I give Tanner my full support as he works to complete the DuBois Dream 2022 roster,” Homer continued. “The excitement is building for Season #6 and we, as an organization, are committed to bringing, family friendly,  affordable, and top notch basketball to the greatest fans in the league.”
