Last Saturday the Dream suffered their fourth loss of the season against the undefeated Thunder in what was considered the “best game of the Season”. Today, they welcome a familiar foe in the Chautauqua Hurricane to DuBois, to see if they can build off of the momentum they had against the PBL #1 seed last week. All five starters for the Dream scored in double figures, with Juwan Willis (41 points), Albert Varacallo III (27 points), and Tony Acrie (20 points and 19 rebounds) leading the way.
I had the chance to talk to Tony Acrie this week on ways the team can build momentum down the stretch. “The biggest thing for us is to find that core group of guys that can flow well together in the game. We all have great attributes as players to perform to the best of our ability once the flow is working. Whenever we have a group out there that can flow well together, and get into their spots we’ll be right in the game. The biggest thing to grab momentum is to play as a team, with the group of guys that we have we will never give up. Once we secure that as a group, by the time playoffs comes around we will be one of the top teams in the league”.
The Dream will need to stop the Hurricane trio of Marcus Feagin (16.7 ppg), Travonta Gatewood (15.7 ppg), and Larry Rivers (15.0 ppg), while keeping big man Daniel Mulamba (10.7 rpg) off the glass if they want to secure the win and claim the #3 seed in the Northeast tonight. This will be a highly anticipated game where both teams are looking to secure a win and build momentum. Tip off is scheduled for 7pm at the DuBois Area Middle School and doors open at 6pm.
