JORDIN SOMMERS
The DuBois Dream organization is excited to highlight Jordin Sommers, a senior guard on the DuBois Area High School boys’ basketball team. Jordin spent two years in the DuBois Dream AAU program, and that has helped him to develop his basketball skills.
After sitting on the varsity bench his sophomore year, Jordin got an opportunity to play on the DuBois Dream 17U AAU Basketball Team and took full advantage of it. After his AAU experience, Jordin earned his way into the rotation his junior year playing about 15 minutes per game on a dominant 19-win DAHS Team. Jordin, now a senior with plans on playing at the next level, is logging close to 30 minutes per game while averaging an impressive 10.5 points, 5 assists, 3.5 rebs, and 2 steals for DAHS.
Here is our interview with Jordin about what the DuBois Dream Basketball Club’s youth basketball program offered him and how it helped him make progress in his basketball career.
How has your participation in the program helped your development in basketball? It has helped me develop my ball handling skills as the point guard, and it made me more confident when I have the ball.
What was your favorite part about participating in the program? My favorite part was the car rides to Pittsburgh with Jake Perrin, and just talking about basketball the whole ride.
What do you think an opportunity like the Dream’s AAU program can do for other young players? I think it can help you become more confident in your game, and it will make you want to get better once you see all the good teams you face during the AAU season.
Any additional info or anything you want to say about your AAU experience: I would like to thank Albert Varacallo and Jake Perrin for letting me play for them through a rough time in my life, and I’m very grateful for that.
