The DuBois Dream took the court on Friday night for a blue/white intra-squad scrimmage. Team Blue consisted of Bryce Bright, Trey Logan, Ajay Crawford, Albert Varacallo, and Sam Roselli. Team White was made up of Randall Whitley, Zach Reigel, Coty Peters, Cory Huff, and Tony Acrie.
It didn’t take long for Team White to grab an early lead, thanks in large part to strong first quarter performances from Zach Reigel (11 points) and Tony Acrie (10 rebounds). Albert Varacallo hit a three-point shot at the buzzer to close the gap for Team Blue, but the lead remained with Team White, 22-19 after 12 minutes of play.
As the second quarter got underway, Team White extended its lead. Acrie again was a key contributor, as was Cory Huff. The duo combined for 18 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists in the quarter. For Team Blue, Trey Logan tallied eight points in quarter number two in an attempt to keep his squad within striking distance. The score at the half was 54-33 in favor of Team White.
The third quarter again featured Logan and Huff leading their respective squads. Logan scored 13 points for Team Blue in the quarter, while adding a rebound, and Huff went for 15 points and six rebounds. Huff capped off the frame with a buzzer-beating three-pointer to give Team White an 87-56 advantage heading into the final 12 minutes.
In quarter four, it was Sam Roselli doing his best to mount a comeback for Team Blue, posting 12 points and four rebounds. Cory Huff, though, wasn’t done with his big night, and recorded 12 points and 14 rebounds to ensure a Team White victory. When it was all said and done, Team White emerged victorious, 120-85.
For Team Blue, Trey Logan led the team in points with 30, while Albert Varacallo led all players in the game with eight assists. Bryce Bright added 17 points of his own in a losing effort, while Sam Roselli and Ajay Crawford grabbed 13 and nine rebounds respectively.
Team White was led by Cory Huff’s 39 points and Tony Acrie’s 30 rebounds, both of which led all players in the game. Acrie and Zach Reigel tied for second on Team White with 28 points each, while Randall Whitley added 19 points. Coty Peters led his squad with five assists in the win.
The Dream will be playing as one unit for the first time this year when the club travels to Erie for a PBL Showcase on Saturday, January 23. The team will take on Glass City BC at 11:30 AM and the Roc City Ravens at 2:30 PM.
