RECAP

The Tournament of Champions Round 1 was on fire from start to finish last weekend. With over 60+ Teams taking part in the event on Sunday, the first round did not disappoint. The Tournament started with a Free Throw “Sudden Death” win by The Smashing Pumpkins in the 3rd-5th Grade Division to punch their ticket into the Finals and ended with our largest 17-Team Open Men’s Bracket win by Team Johnstown, who was able to withstand the entire field to punch their ticket in August as well. Round 1 Qualifying Tournament of Champions Winners were:

3rd-5th Grade: The Smashing Pumpkins – Players: Cole Bovaird, JT Hughes, Luke Martino

6th-8th Grade Girls: Net Rippers – Players: Isabelle Bond, Mylee Harmon, Kira Bonanno

6th-8th Grade Boys: Flamingos – Players: Noah Kengersky, Maddo Hetrick, Porter Wood, Griffin White

High School Boys: Team Dutchmen – Players: Mitchell Reiter, Bryce Walker, Isaac Schlimm, Vini Nunes

Open Women’s: Chicken Noodle Hoopers – Players: Lexi Berta, Kendall Sankey and Catherine Kelly

Open Men’s: Team Johnstown – Players: Tre’von Williams, Keyon Gause, Quinyon Mays,Frank Anderson

Round 2 is sure to live up to the hype of Round 1, as a majority of the Teams will be returning, as well as some new teams and faces who will be looking to battle their way into the Finals. Returning Players and Teams do not need to fill out a new registration, but will only have to e-mail to confirm that they are playing on Sunday. New Teams and Players must fill out the online registration by noon on Saturday, make payment (see below), and bring a waiver to participate. Round 2 will have some slight adjustments as shown below:

Tournament Game Schedule – Updated (By Division)

3rd-5th Grade (Boys and Girls): Check-In – 11:30am | Games – 12:00pm

6th-8th Grade (Boys and Girls): Check-In – 12:30pm | Games – 1:00pm

High School Boys: Check-In – 2:00pm | Games – 2:30pm

Open Women’s Division: Check-In – 3:00pm | Games 3:30pm

Open Men’s Division: Check-In – 4:00pm | Games 4:30pm

Game Rules (*Updated Summary)

Initial Possession – Coin flip

Scoring (*Court Moderator) –

3rd-5th Grade – Games will be played to 5 (1 point and 2 points, if scored behind the arc) | 6 minute playing time limit per game

6th-8th Grade – Games will be played to 7 (1 point and 2 points, if scored behind the arc) | 7 minute playing time limit per game

High School and Open Women’s/Men’s – Games will be played to 11 (1 point and 2 points, if scored behind the arc) | 10 minute playing time limit per game

*Overtime (*Updated) –

3rd-5th Grade and 6th-8th Grade: Free Throw Sudden Death (*Each Team picks a player to shoot a Free Throw for the win)

High School Boys, Open Women’s and Open Men’s: first team to score (*Coin flip for possession)

Free-Throws – 1 FT and 2 FT’s, if fouled behind the arc

Fouls – Players call own (*Court Moderator will handle disputes) | 5 Team Fouls (1 FT) and 7+ Team Fouls (2 FT’s) | Technical Foul (*Court Moderator Decision) – 1 FT + Possession

Check-ball AND Pass-In to begin play AFTER Score/Dead Ball Change of Possession

Defensive Rebound AND/OR Change of Possession – Ball Must Be Taken Behind The Arc Before Scoring

Substitutions – In dead ball situations, prior to the check-ball

*Court Moderator will oversee games and be the final decision maker in disputes

Health and Safety

It will be impossible for players to social distance during the Tournament games, however it is highly recommended to keep 6 feet apart between players/fans/workers before and after games.

Non-Active Players (not playing in the games scheduled) and Fans are not permitted inside of the fence.

Hand Sanitizing Station will be available at the entrance of the outdoor court.

Cleaning Wipes will be made available at every hoop to clean the basketball before and after games.

Masks are recommended (*Update: they are now required to be worn in all public spaces) to be worn when possible before and after games.

*If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms please stay home (we are having multiple tournaments in July that you can participate in)

Online Registration/Limited In-Person/Check-In/Waivers

Registration at the event will be extremely limited due to restrictions. Online Registration is highly recommended or you run the risk of not being able to play in the Tournament. Check-In will be for handing in waivers and being placed on the appropriate Divisional Bracket. Please fill out registration information below by Saturday at 12:00pm
